JD's pedigree speaks for itself. His sire, Poco Blunder earned a ROM show and is the son of the great Poco Bueno, an AQHA Chanpion, ROM cutting, and performance and halter point earner. Poco
Bueno has sired AQHA champions and superior halter/performance horses. JD is also a grandson of Clarks Doc Bar, a NCHA open champ and halter point earner. Clarks Doc Bar is also a leading sire of performance, show point earners and NCHA champions.
JD's former owner, Schaack Quarter Horses, said he spent a few months in cutting training and can really spin and stop. He is cow-horse deluxe. They have tracked some calves and did some break-away roping off him and he loved it. I can believe it, my trainer wanted to see how he would do under saddle so he put one on JD. He was a great gentleman and Cody said JD has a lope 'to die for'. I find it impressive that JD would just take off from a long vacation with the mares and step up so willingly to being ridden. We are strongly considering entering him in a senior stallion halter show just to let other people see how great he is, but
JD's primary job is siring a few more generations of great foals.
JD has a
great disposition. This was proved during a potentially deadly situation involving Harley, my up and coming stud colt. We had Harley in a barn stall to be weaned and he got out into the stud pasture with JD. We found them standing shoulder to shoulder in the morning and Harley didn't have a mark on him. As you know, not many stallions would be that excepting of a foal, especially a stud colt, that is not theirs. JD has only been with us a few months, but he has won every ones heart and admiration with his easy ways.
His confirmation is also to be desired and he puts excellent confirmation, agility, and disposition into his colts, according to his previous owner and pictures of his foals on their website. I am looking forward to a 2010 colt crop of my own. We will also be standing JD to a few select mares in the 2011 breeding season.
The breeding fees will be $600 with a $100 booking fee. If you are interested in giving your mare a 'date' with JD please contact us and we can set it up.
We also have an up and coming stud prospect. We call him Harley and here are his qualifications:
Here is Cody with Harley. Cody is 5'9" tall so you can get an idea of Harley's size at 3 months. He looks like he will shed out to a nice dusky palomino color.
We are looking at putting him in some halter classes to see how he points out.
